Brett Hudspeth went 2-3, but the Plano Wildcats still fell to Allen 6-5 in seven innings on Thursday at Allen High School. Two of the Plano Wildcats runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Hudspeth. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings. Danny Sigler got the win in relief for Allen. Sigler pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed no runs.
Jacob Mattox was charged with the loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed one run. In the bottom of the second, Allen grabbed the early lead, 2-0. Allen’s rally started when Tanner Gyarmathy singled. A stolen base then moved Gyarmathy from first to second. Allen added more runs when Casey scored on an RBI single by Kyler Murray. Allen survived the Plano Wildcats surge and put up three runs of its own in the fifth. Allen scored on a two-run double by Cody Wernli and a groundout by Gyarmathy.
