Plano fell behind early but regained the lead in the third and never allowed the Jaguars to get over the hump as the Wildcats defeated the Jaguars 5-3.
Zach Holifield, winning pitcher, had great command on the mound for the Wildcats, allowed three runs over six and two-thirds innings, struck out five, walked two, and gave up seven hits.
Ryan Stuempfig was the losing pitcher, lasted only four and one third innings, with no walks, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
Flower Mound took an early 1-0 lead as Skyler Cox kicked things off for the Jaguars with a single. A stolen base then moved Cox from first to second. Nick Thornquist singled, which scored Cox.
A.J. Liu had a great day at the plate for the Wildcats. Liu went 3-4, with a double in the third and singles in both the fifth and seventh innings. Liu drove in one run and scored twice. Brett Hudspeth went 2-3 on the day with two RBI’s.
The bats came alive in the third as A.J. Liu drove in Troy Lee on an RBI double, and then scored on an RBI single by Brett Hudspeth. The Jaguars scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and trimmed the lead to 3-2. Plano went back to work in the fifth with a single by Hudspeth, which scored Nic Melson. Garrett Maas followed up with a single to left field and scored Liu. Flower Mound scored one run in the sixth on a solo home run by Syler Sheperd. As the Jaguars threated, with one out remaining in bottom of the seventh, closer, Quinn Waterbury came in to shut down Jaguars.
