Plano Wildcats Defeat Southlake Carroll, 5-3, After Sixth Inning Rally

Thursday’s game saw five lead changes but the Wildcats went up for good in the sixth, scoring three runs.

The Wildcats managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. Brett Hudspeth started off the sixth with a single. Pinch runner, Nick Melson, stole second and third, and scored on a RBI triple to center field by Troy Lee. Conner Allen followed with a triple to right field scoring Troy Lee. Braley Hollins singled to left and drove in Conner Allen.

Jacob Mattox was a workhorse on the mound while bagging the win for the Wildcats. Mattox pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs, four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Southlake’s, Harris, was the game’s losing pitcher, lasting 5 2/3 innings, walking one, striking out three, and allowing five runs.
