Plano Defeats Midlothian In Pitcher’s Duel

Both teams were strong on the mound Thursday, but Plano defeated Midlothian 2-1 as the Plano pitchers allowed just four hits to Midlothian. Plano took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Smith induced Garrett Maas to ground out, but one run scored and there was an error, scoring one run. Jacob Mattox earned the win for Plano. He pitched five innings, surrendering one run, four hits, and striking out eight. Troy Lee recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Wildcats. Smith took the loss for Midlothian. He went six innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, striking out 11 and walking zero. Maas and Conner Allen each drove in one run.
