All-around effort leads the Plano Wildcats past Allen 4-2
The Plano Wildcats beat Allen 4-2 Friday behind both the bat and the arm of Mitchell Hansen.
It was a good day at the plate for the Plano Wildcats Hansen. Hansen went 2-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Hansen picked up the win for the Plano Wildcats. Hansen allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out two over seven innings of work.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.
The Plano Wildcats took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. A hit by pitch scored Reece Allen and gave the Plano Wildcats the lead for good.
Danny Sigler was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
Allen jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Cody Wernli got things going for Allen with a double. A single by Camden Harrison then moved Wernli from second to third.
The Plano Wildcats quickly matched Allen’s strong inning with a one-run inning of their own in the second. The Plano Wildcats scored on an RBI single by Austin Toups.
The sixth spelled defeat for Allen, as the Plano Wildcats grabbed the lead for good. More runners rounded the bases on an RBI single by Quinn Waterbury.
