Plano Prevailed in 5-4 Win Over Southlake

Plano and Southlake Carroll traded the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but Plano prevailed 5-4. Plano took the lead for good in the eighth inning. The game was tied at four with Plano batting in the top of the eighth when Braley Hollins singled off of Nicco Cole, driving in one run.

Southlake Carroll captured the lead in the first inning. Southlake Carroll scored two runs when Wyatt Stapp singled with one out in the first inning.

After Plano scored one run in the top of the fifth, Southlake Carroll answered with one of their own. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Southlake Carroll tied things up at four. Stapp singled on a 0-2 count in the seventh inning, scoring one run.

Jacob Mattox earned the win for Plano. He threw seven innings, giving up four runs, eight hits, and striking out three. Troy Lee recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Plano. Nicco Cole took the loss for Southlake Carroll. He tossed one inning, giving up one run, two hits, striking out one, and walking none. Cutter Sippel started the game for Carroll. He pitched four innings, surrendering two runs, one hit, and striking out five.

Garrett Maas, Braley Hollins, Nathaniel Haynes, Joey Winkler, and Anderson Acinger all had one hit for Plano.

Southlake Carroll collected eight hits. Adam Stephenson, Stapp, and Ross Cadena each collected multiple hits for Southlake Carroll.
